UFC on FOX: Johnson vs Dodson Early Picks

UFC on FOX 6 Promo Poster

This weekend from Chicago, Illinois at the United Center comes UFC on FOX: Johnson vs Dodson where Demetrious Johnson will defend his recently crowned UFC flyweight championship against John Dodson. I am not very intrigued by the lighter weight classes the UFC has been implementing, I find the lack of a knockout threat to make the fights less exciting. Regardless, my model will predict the outcome using a compilation of the fighter’s statistics.

In the main event, Johnson is heavily favoured to win. I placed a 2 unit bet on him at 1.465 to 1 because he is so strongly favoured. For the next little while, I will be sticking to 1 unit, 1.5 unit and 2 unit bets depending on the output of the model, but you can accept a 2 unit bet as a strong candidate to win.

Unfortunately, I can’t predict Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs Glover Teixeira, but I see this fight ending with one of the combatants in the pain cave.

In what should be a pretty exciting fight, Donald Cerrone takes on Anthony Pettis. I have Pettis winning this one and place a 1 unit bet at 1.91 to 1.

A summary of all bets so far is below:

Demetrious Johnson over John Dodson, 2 units at 1.465 to 1
Anthony Pettis over Donald Cerrone, 1 unit at 1.91 to 1
Erick Koch over Ricardo Lamas, 1.5 units at 1.71 to 1
Matt Wiman over TJ Grant, 1 unit at 2 to 1

I will follow up with the rest of the models picks later this week when full odds have been released. Also note that I created a page to list all 2013 results.
