Tonight was all around a terrible night for The Fight Predictor. We went 0-3 on our bets (although one fight was pretty close), and lost 5 units total. One positive on the night was the troops went home happy as their man Tim Kennedy knocked out Rafael Natal with a brutal punch late in the first round of their main event fight.
In our final bet of the night, we had Liz Carmouche and Alexis Davis to end in under 2.5 rounds. Unfortunately, the ladies managed to last for the entirety of the 15 minutes they were allocated. It really seemed like Liz Carmouche just wasn’t there to fight as she had limited offense and was a shadow of the woman we saw be competitive with Ronda Rousey and defeat Jessica Andrade. We lost 1.5 units.
Our second bet of the night was Jorge Masvidal to defeat Rustam Khabilov. The bet was 1.5 units at 2.45 to 1. Khabilov appeared to get the better of the striking action for the most part, especially with a spinning back kick in the third that sent Masvidal flying. Masvidal did surprisingly well in stuffing the majority of Khabilov’s grappling and even landed some takedowns of his own. The result was Khabilov taking a decision (30-27×2, 29-28). We lose 1.5 units.
Our first bet of the night was in the bantamweight division; we had George Roop to defeat Francisco Rivera. Our bet was 2 units at 2.07 to 1. Roop was able to maintain control in the first round, keeping Rivera on his back for almost half the round and holding his own in the striking. Unfortunately, following a low blow by Roop, Rivera seemingly went crazy, swinging wildly and landing enough to justify a stoppage by referee Mario Yamasaki. We lose 2 units.
