It was not a particularly good night for The Fight Predictor. We started strong with a big win in picking Trujillo to defeat Bowling, but from then on, things didn’t go our way. Overall, our bets were 1-3 for a loss of 4.72 units.
Our final bet of the night was on Michael McDonald to defeat Urijah Faber. The veteran Faber looked impressive in taking a second round submission victory over McDonald. Unfortunately for us, we lost our 3 unit bet on McDonald.
Our third bet of the night was on the second fight of the main card, a featherweight bout between Chad Mendes and Nick Lentz, to be under 2.5 rounds. We got our 3 unit bet in when the odds were up at 2.25 to 1. By fight time, they had dropped to almost 1.6 to 1. In an event we can’t even predict, Mendes had a cold/the flu and looked to be a shadow of himself. He was still able to get the job done, winning 30-27 x2 and 29-28 in a unanimous decision, but he didn’t look to have the energy to sustain his attack. Unfortunately for us, this means we lose our 3 unit bet.
Our second bet of the night was on big underdog, Cody Mckenzie to defeat Sam Stout in their lightweight contest. Once we saw weigh ins, we wished we’d held off on this bet as McKenzie’s body looked absolutely brutal. The guy looks like he has never touched a weight in his life, and its not like he’s one of those guys who doesn’t look strong, but actually is…the guy was completely outstrengthed by Stout on this night. Unfortunately for our bet, McKenzie struggled to get Stout to the mat besides very early in the first round and he got beat up on the feet. We lost our 3 unit bet.
Our first bet of the night was Abel Trujillo to defeat Roger Bowling. We liked the bet at 2.07 to 1, but by fight time, the odds on Trujillo had climbed to 2.30. Trujillo looked awesome on the feet and besides when Bowling looked to be threatening with a guillotine early in the first, it was pretty one sided. After dominating the striking in the first and the first half of the second, Trujillo managed to finish bowling with strikes mid-second round. We profit 4.28 units.
