UFC Fight Night 42: Henderson vs Khabilov goes down this Saturday night from the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The main card predictions and bets have already been posted so we’re here to bring you our picks for the prelim fights. The fights get underway at 7:30 pm ET on Fight Pass with the televised prelims at 8:00 pm and the main card beginning at 10pm ET. On a side note, if you’re not following our MLB Predictions and Bets, you’re missing out on some free money! We’re up overall and will be looking to continue growing our profit. In addition, even after a relatively weak month of May, we’re still averaging a 20% ROI on our MMA bets as detailed in our Track Record.
In the main event of the prelims, even at 1.20 (-500), we’re all over a Sergio Pettis play. Whether you want to fade the aging vet, or bet on the rising prospect, this fight is your place. Meza has a 20-9 career record and good on him for even making the UFC. He may or may not be the only guy on the UFC roster who lost 3 in a row to begin his MMA career. At the age of 33, and with basically no wins over big name opponents, we expect the 20 year old Pettis to be all over Meza. A bet on the under is also tempting as a fade on Meza’s chin, but with Pettis only winning 3 of his 10 career victories by TKO or KO, we’ll hold off on the under which is set to 2.5 rounds at a current line of 2.25 (+125). Instead, we’ll just add Pettis to a parlay.
For a parlay partner for Pettis, we look to the second fight of the prelims which sees Scott Jorgensen and Danny Martinez doing battle in the flyweight division. Jorgensen has had a pretty rough go of it, going 1-5 in his last 6, but we expect him to easily turn it around against the step down in competition that is Martinez. The big fear with this bet is that Jorgensen has lost motivation, or hasn’t been training as hard as he has previously because he’s fighting less of a name opponent. Regardless, we’ll bet 3 units on Pettis and Jorgensen at 1.75 (-133) at BetOnline.
Between the two fights mentioned above, welterweights Lance Benoist and Bobby Voelker will be looking to keep their jobs as UFC fighters. Voelker has really not looked good since debuting in the UFC from Strikeforce in March, 2013. He has lost 3 straight, and hasn’t really shown a whole lot of skill in losing. Benoist’s UFC career has also left something to be desired, but at least he showed some decent grappling ability both in a decision win over Matt Riddle and a close split decision loss to Seth Baczynski. We expect Benoist to grapple his way to a decision and as the underdog, we see value there. This is a pick that our model is relatively confident on so we placed a 2 unit bet on Benoist at 2.20 (+120) at 5Dimes.
That’s it for our UFC Fight Night 42: Henderson vs Khabilov predictions and bets! Good luck with whatever bets you choose to make! Lastly, if you’re looking for a cool book on MMA stats, pick up a copy of Fightnomics by Reed Kuhn.
