We’re just a few days away from a double UFC card weekend, the first of which is UFC Fight Night 43: Te Huna vs Marquardt which goes down at 2:30 am ET on Saturday. We already released our main card predictions and bets and we’re back now with the remaining picks for the card. While not a great card for betting, we did find a second parlay and a couple over/under lines we like in the preliminary fights.
The first fight outcome we think is fairly certain is Neil Magny to defeat the debuting Rodrigo Goiana De Lima. De Lima has basically been beating up cans in Brazil to pad his record to the 8-1-1 where it currently sits. We don’t expect he’ll be able to handle the huge step up in competition that Magny will be and have decided to make Magny the first leg of our second parlay. In addition, while De Lima has won the vast majority of his fights by quick submission, we think a submission happening in this fight is unlikely even though we think Magny is the superior fighter. Magny has had 3 in a row and 5 of his last 6 go to decision. We see some value in the over/under line so we bet 2 units on Magny/De Lima going over 2.5 rounds at 1.74 (-135) at BetOnline.
The second fight outcome we think is fairly certain is Gian Villante to defeat Cody Donovan. Villante enters the fight off a very disappointing loss to Fabio Maldonado in a fight that he was dominating for about one and a half rounds. O’Connell also enters the fight off a loss; a first round TKO to Ryan Jimmo. We expect Villante, who is a training partner of UFC middleweight champ, Chris Weidman, to look to keep the fight standing and to land at will on his inferior opponent. It quite possibly ends before the end of round 2, but we’re not confident enough to bet on the under 1.5 rounds line which currently sits at 2.35 (+135). We bet 3 units on Villante and Magny at 1.81 (-123) at 5Dimes.
Our final bet of the night will be a second total bet. Chris Indich and Vik Grujic will do battle in the welterweight division and we don’t expect the fight to last very long. The outcome is less certain however, but if we were forced to pick a side to bet it would have to be Indich, only because a bet on him pays better at 2.00 (+100) and we don’t have a strong lean towards either side. The under 2.5 rounds line currently sits at 2.40 (+140) and with 6 of 7 of Indich’s fights and 5 of 9 of Grujic’s fights finishing in less than 2.5 rounds, we see some value there. We bet 2 units on Indich/Grujic to be under 2.5 rounds at 2.40 (+140) at BetOnline.
That’s it for our UFC Fight Night 43: Te Huna vs Marquardt betting tips! Hopefully we start your Saturday with a big profit and follow it up with a second big profit at UFC Fight Night 44: Swanson vs Stephens which goes down later in the evening. Speaking of which, our full predictions and bets for UFC Fight Night 44 should be out tomorrow night!
