It was an absolutely terrible night of betting for us. MMA is a funny thing to bet, you can go 5-0 one night and use the exact same methodology the next night and go 0-5. Oh well, it is what it is and hopefully we can get some of the losses back with tonights The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale.
In the main event, we were betting on Lyoto Machida to become the NEW UFC middleweight champion by defeating Chris Weidman. The bet was 3 units at 2.77 (+177). Unfortunately, Weidman dominated the first 3 rounds and also won the fifth on our score card and the judges got it right in scoring it for Weidman. We lose our 3 unit bet.
Our second straight bet of the night was another value play. We got the Ronda Rousey vs Alexis Davis over 2.5 rounds at 3.80 (+280) which turned out to be the peak in the odds. We should never have bothered betting against Rousey finishing quickly. It took her just 16 seconds to get Davis down and land 10 unanswered strikes. We lost our 1 unit bet.
Our first straight bet of the night was a value play on Alex Caceres to defeat Urijah Faber. We had 0.5 units on Caceres at 9.74 (+874). The first round was all Faber as he took down Caceres early and reigned down ground and pound for pretty much the entire round. The second round was much different, we actually scored it for Caceres as he did better on the feet and Faber’s only offense was holding Caceres against the fence. Unfortunately, Caceres ended up getting submitted mid-way through the third and we lose our 0.5 unit bet.
Our second parlay was Ildemar Alcantara and Uriah Hall. Unfortunately, Alcatanara seemed unable or unwilling to keep his far superior grappler opponent, Kenny Robertson from taking him down. This resulted in an easy decision for the judges as they gave the fight to Robertson 30-26 on all cards.
Our first parlay on the night was on the first two bouts of the televised prelims as we had George Roop to defeat Rob Font and Chris Camozzi to defeat Bruno Santos. The bet was 3 units at 2.11 (+111). Unfortunately Roop’s chin, which admittedly was a worry for us didn’t hold up and he ended up getting knocked out in the first round. Camozzi also suffered defeat, losing a close split decision to Bruno Santos. We lost our 3 unit bet.
Next up is the TUF 19 Finale tonight and then we have UFC Fight Night 45, 46 and UFC on Fox 12 all sandwiched in a week and a half from the 16th to 26th of July.
