UFC Fight Night 47: Bader vs St Preux goes down tomorrow night and we’re here with an abbreviated version of our betting tips! The month of July ended up being a rare losing month for the fight predictor as we both started and ended the month with 0-fer events with winning events sandwiched in between. We’ll be looking to turn things around in August and our overall performance this year is still pretty decent. Especially when you only consider our UFC betting tips. Be sure to pick up your copy of Fightnomics by Reed Kuhn for the most complete analysis of a wide variety of MMA statistical trends!
In the main event, Ryan Bader will be taking on Ovince St Preux. Bader is the more proven of the two and beats St Preux in most areas of the MMA game. In addition, recent performances by Bader show that he may still be improving. Bader is the first leg of a 3 unit parlay.
The co-main event features top lightweights Gray Maynard and Ross Pearson. While Maynard hasn’t looked great lately, his decline is not as steep as a lot of people believe. We expect he’ll be able to use his wrestling to control Pearson. The wrestling edge should be enough to at least win a 29-28 decision. We bet 2 units on Maynard at 2.48 (+148) at Pinnacle.
Our second dog pick of Fight Night 47 is Tim Boetsch. Like Maynard, Boetsch is another guy who the public thinks is declining significantly. While we can’t argue that he has declined, we do think there is some value in betting him to defeat Brad Tavares since the line has climbed to 3.55 (+255). We placed a 2 unit bet on Boetsch at 3.55 (+255) at 5Dimes.
The second leg of our parlay that includes Ryan Bader will be Sara McMann. McMann actually looked pretty decent in the early going against division champ, Ronda Rousey, before taking a knee to the stomach which rendered her unable to continue. McMann should be able to control the action wherever her fight with the debuting Lauren Murphy goes. We bet 3 units on McMann and Bader at 1.89 (-111) at BetOnline.
Our final underdog pick of the night is Robbie Peralta over Thiago Tavares. Tavares has had a pretty up and down UFC career and we feel Peralta has a decent shot to get the W tomorrow night. We placed a 2 unit bet on Peralta at 2.50 (+150) at 5Dimes.
That’s it for our UFC Fight Night 47 bets, but we’ll be busy over the next little while with both UFC Fight Night 48: Bisping vs Le and UFC Fight Night 49: Henderson vs Dos Anjos coming up on August 23.
