It was a successful start to August as we earned a nice little profit at UFC Fight Night 47: Bader vs St Preux. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for all our predictions and bets for the two UFC events which will be live next weeekend!
In the main event, we had Ryan Bader to defeat Ovince St Preux as the second leg of the parlay with Sara McMann. Round 1 was Bader’s as he hit a couple takedowns and appeared to have the edge on the feet. Round 2 was a bit different as St Preux kept it standing and use his range effectively to take the round. In round 3, Bader went back to his wrestling game and grappled his way to a round win. Round 4 was pretty similar to round 3 with Bader controlling the action with his grappling. Round 5 was more even and OSP even landed some hard elbows that opened Bader up, but Bader still controlled most of the grappling. We scored it 48-47 for Bader. The judges got it right giving Bader a unanimous decision (48-47, 49-46×2). We profit 2.67 units.
Our third straight bet of the night was Gray Maynard to defeat Ross Pearson. Our bet was 2 units at 2.48 (+148) and the line remained steady up to the fight with Maynard at 2.50 (+150). Round 1 was incredibly close, but we gave the edge to Maynard as he landed a couple takedowns and a little ground and pound. Unfortunately in round 2, Pearson clipped and then finished Maynard. We lose our 2 unit bet.
Our second straight bet of the night was Tim Boetsch to defeat Brad Tavares. Boetsch was a big underdog at 3.55 (+255) and the bet was mostly based on the fact that we felt the line was out of whack. Round 1 was definitely Tavares’s as he landed knee after knee to close out what was an otherwise uneventful round. Round 2 was shaping up the same way until Tim Boetsch turned it around with a couple huge strikes. He knocked Tavares down and capitalized with a finish. We profit 5.10 units.
Our first straight bet of the night was Robbie Peralta to defeat Thiago Tavares. The bet on the underdog was 2 units at 2.50 (+150). Peralta had no answer for the grappling of Tavares. Tavares got a quick takedown and didn’t allow Peralta to get any offense going. Tavares eventually locked up a tight rear naked choke, forcing the tap out from Peralta. We lose our 2 unit bet.
The first leg of our first parlay was the biggest favourite of the fight card, Sara McMann. We had her to defeat Lauren Murphy and it was a 3 unit bet at 2.89 (-111). Round 1 wasn’t particularly exciting, but McMann controlled Murphy for the full 5 minutes and should have taken it easily with the judges. Round 2 and 3 were mostly controlled by McMann as well although round 3 did see some offense from Murphy who made McMann pay with elbows for every takedown attempt. We saw it 30-27 McMann going to the judges score cards. It was a little scary as McMann only took a split decision from the judges, but a win is a win and the first leg of our parlay is good.
