Any profit is a success, but a couple close calls could have lead to a huge night. Alas, we won’t complain as a profit is a profit. The profit kicks off September on a winning note and with 3 cards remaining on the month, there’s still time to make a bunch more money.
We had 2 small bets on the main event. 0.5 units each on Mousasi over Jacare and 0.5 units on the fight to go less than 2.5 rounds. Round 1 and 2 saw Jacare taking Mousasi down and basically maintaining top position without really threatening for subs for the duration. Jacare eventually got the sub in the third round, unfortunately it passed the under 2.5 rounds so we lost both our 0.5 unit bets.
Our fourth play of the night, and third underdog play was Matt Mitrione to defeat Derrick Lewis. We got 2 units on Mitrione at 2.40 (+140), but the line had fallen to 2.16 (+116) by fight time. It took Mitrione just 41 seconds to dispose of Lewis with a huge upper cut and some ground and pound to follow up. We profit 2.80 units.
Our third play of the night was our first favourite play of the night where we had Michael Chiesa to defeat Joe Lauzon. The bet was 3 units at 1.71 (-140). The first round was pretty intense with Lauzon holding back control for a while, but Chiesa ending with a flurry. Round 2 was also back and forth until Lauzon opened Chiesa up with a cut. The doctor’s decided Chiesa couldn’t continue and we lose our 3 unit bet.
Our second play of the night was another 2 unit bet on a dog as we had John Moraga to defeat Justin Scoggins. It looked bad after 1 as Scoggins got the takedown and basically held Moraga down for the first 5 minutes. Round 2 looked to be starting the same way, but out of nowhere Moraga locked up a guillotine and submitted Scoggins. We profit 4.20 units.
Our first play of the night was a 2 unit bet on Chris Camozzi to defeat Rafael Natal in the third fight of the card. Our bet was 2 units at 2.45 (+145), but by fight time the line on Camozzi had climbed as high as 2.70 (+170). Round 1 saw Camozzi landing plenty of leg kicks, but Natal winning the striking and getting a brief takedown. Round 2 saw Camozzi turn the tables a bit, landing far more on the feet. Round 3 was even more slanted in Camozzi’s favour as he definitely won the striking exchanges. In our opinion, it was 29-28 Camozzi. Unfortunately two of three judges disagreed and Natal took a split decision. We lost our 2 unit bet.
