It was a terrible night for us. We had some close calls, but in the end it was a 1-5 night for -8.50 units.
Our sixth and final bet of the night was Dustin Poirier to defeat Conor McGregor in the people’s main event. The bet didn’t last long as McGregor got a first round TKO win. We lose our 2 unit bet.
Our fifth bet of the night was our free bet. We had 4 units on Tim Kennedy at 2.30 (+130) to defeat Yoel Romero. By fight time, the odds on Kennedy were below 2.00 (+100). Round 1 was fought mostly on the feet and Romero had a distinct speed advantage. The tide turned in Kennedy’s favour in round 2. Romero appeared to tire and his movement and striking slowed down significantly. It was 19-19 heading to round 3. Romero was late getting off his stool, but the fight continued anyway. It didn’t take long for him to TKO Kennedy and we lose our 4 unit bet.
Our fourth bet of the night was another 2 unit bet, this time on Amanda Nunes to defeat the returning Cat Zingano. We placed the bet at odds of 3.30 (+230), but by fight time, the best you could get was 295 (+195). Nunes looked absolutely awesome for the first half of the round, landing devastating ground and pound. Unfortunately she decided to give up top position by going for a leg lock and Zingano won the second half of the round. Round 2 saw Zingano get top position early and maintain it for basically the entire round. Round 3 saw Zingano get on top once again and this time she got the finish with her ground and pound. We lose our 2 unit bet.
Our third bet of the night was on the main event of the prelims. We had Takeya Mizugaki to defeat Dominick Cruz. The bet was 2 units at 5.00 (+400) and was one of our biggest underdog bets of all time! Cruz looked absolutely awesome and was able to dispatch Mizugaki early in round #1. We lose our 2 unit bet.
Our second bet of the night was a pretty big underdog. We had Patrick Cote to defeat Stephen Thompson and the bet was 2 units at 4.50 (+350). Round 1 was really close with neither guy landing anything particularly notable. We scored it 10-9 Thompson, but wouldn’t have been surprised if it had gone to Cote. Round 2 was more clearly Thompson’s. Thompson controlled the pace and landed the most notable strikes. Round 3 was the worst yet for Cote as he got clipped a couple time. We had it 30-27 Thompson. Thompson ended up taking the fight 30-27 and 29-28×2 meaning we lose our 2 unit bet.
Our first bet of the night was on the opening fight of the card as we had Manny Gamburyan to defeat Cody Gibson. The bet was 2 units at 2.75 (+175). The first round wasn’t a landslide, but Gibson did enough to make it pretty clear he won the round which was on the feet for the most part. Round 2 was pretty similar and it looked like Gibson was going to make it 20-18. Luckily for us, Gamburyan was able to lock up his extremely well tested guillotine to finish the fight with 4 seconds left in the round. We profit 3.50 units.
Gamburyan over Gibson. 2 units at 2.75 (+175). (+3.50 units)
Poirier over McGregor. 2 units at 3.50 (+250). (-2.00 unit)
Kennedy over Romero. 4 units at 2.30 (+130). (-4.00 unit)
Nunes over Zingano. 2 units at 3.30 (+230). (-2.00 unit)
Mizugaki over Cruz. 2 units at 5.00 (+400). (-2.00 units)
Cote over Thompson. 2 units at 4.50 (+350). (-2.00 units)
Event Record: 1-5
Event Profit: -8.50 units
