We’re just a couple days away from another UFC double header which will feature Fight Night 53 and 54. Our full predictions and bets for UFC Fight Night 53 were posted earlier this week and we’re back with the rest of our free tips for UFC Fight Night 54: MacDonald vs Saffiedine. We also posted our paid betting tips which will give you our full underdog picks for both UFC Fight Night 53 and UFC Fight Night 54 for the low price of $9.95. Besides last weeks pretty bad performance at UFC 178, we have been doing pretty well lately as you can see in our track record.
The main event of this card from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada will be pretty important in terms of the UFC welterweight title picture. The number 2 ranked UFC welterweight, Rory MacDonald will be looking to maintain his position as he takes on the number 9 ranked UFC welterweight Tarec Saffiedine. MacDonald has long been looked upon as a future UFC welterweight champion, but he has yet to get the job done when the title shot is on the line. His one chance at a title shot came in November, 2013 in a fight which he lost via decision to Robbie Lawler. At the age of 25 though, MacDonald will likely have several more opportunities to earn welterweight title shots and this fight with Saffiedine could bring him within 1 win of the title should he get the job done. Besides the loss to Lawler, MacDonald hasn’t lost since 2010 and he has been fighting the best welterweights the UFC has. Saffiedine has also been on a decent run as of late, winning 5 straight, all via decision. The level of competition he has been facing hasn’t been as good as MacDonald though so the fight with MacDonald will be a step up. From a straight bet perspective, with MacDonald as a decently heavy favourite already, we don’t see any value. Where we do see value though is on the over. MacDonald has fought to 7 straight decisions while Saffiedine has fought to 6. It would take a fluke for this fight not to go over 4.5 rounds so we placed a 2 unit bet on the over 4.5 rounds at 1.65 (-155) at BetOnline.
Over 4.5 rounds – MacDonald/Saffiedine. 2 units at 1.65 (-155) at BetOnline
