UFC Fight Night 57: Swanson vs Edgar Free Betting Tip

UFC Fight Night 57: Swanson vs Edgar goes down this Saturday night from Austin, Texas and features some pretty decent fights for a fight night card. In the main event, you have top featherweights Frankie Edgar and Cub Swanson throwing down to be next in line for a shot at Jose Aldo (possibly, maybe). The co-main event features hard hitting lightweights Bobby Green and Edson Barboza. In addition, flyweights Joseph Benavidez and Dustin Ortiz will throw down early on the main card to move one step closer to a title shot in that division. For The Fight Predictor, we will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing 4 unit loss at UFC 180: Werdum vs Hunt. We can’t complain too much about it though as we are still up 6.93 units on the month after a very hot start at UFC Fight Night 56/57 where we profited 10.93 units and went 5-1 on our bets. Our full UFC Fight Night 57: Swanson vs Edgar betting tips are available on our Sellfy page. Pre-order them today and you will be the first to receive picks as they are released! This post will detail our free betting tip for the event!

In the main event, as mentioned, Edgar and Swanson will duke it to jump pretty close to the top of the featherweight pile (if they aren’t there already which we’d say they are). Edgar has had a pretty unbelievable run in the UFC, going 11-4-1 primarily fighting against the best of the best. In both the lightweight and featherweight division he has been able to win with crazy speed and very solid wrestling. He managed to win the UFC lightweight title and defended it twice before losing to Benson Henderson via decision. Following a second loss to Henderson, he dropped to the featherweight division where he lost a decision vs the champ, Jose Aldo. He rebounded with 2 straight against Charles Oliviera and BJ Penn (following a coaching stint on The Ultimate Fighter). Cub Swanson has not been to shabby in the UFC/WEC either compiling a record of 9-3 across the Zuffa promotions which includes his current 6 fight win streak. While the level of competition hasn’t been quite the level of Edgar’s, it still has been pretty decent. In terms of age, Edgar is 33 and Swanson is 31 so there isn’t much to choose from there. Our model predicts Edgar is the winner much more often in this match-up. The biggest difference between the two is the strength of past opponents, but we think Edgar also possesses a speed advantage and he has a pretty good chin should he get hit by Swanson. Edgar is the first leg of our free parlay.

The second leg of our free parlay is Joseph Benavidez. Benavidez will be fighting fellow flyweight Dustin Ortiz. His overall record sits at 20-4 with a UFC/WEC record of 12-4. Many people think Benavidez and current champ Demetrious Johnson will face each other many times over the next 5 or so years as both are probably the best and second best fighters in the division and we tend to agree. As unbelievable as it may sound, at the age of 30, Benavidez could still have his best years ahead of him. His opponent, Dustin Ortiz will be taking a huge step up to face Benavidez. He is 14-3 overall and 3-1 under the UFC banner. At 25 years old, his best years are definitely ahead of him and assuming he is putting in the work between fights, he should be improving a lot between each outing. Ortiz’s 3-1 record could easily be 2-2 at least according to our Twitter feed which was up in arms when the judges awarded him the split decision against Ray Borg. Our model has Benavidez to win this fight the vast majority of the time and we see no reason not to agree. Because of this, we made Benavidez the second leg of our parlay and placed a 3 unit bet on Benavidez/Edgar at 1.86 (-116) at 5Dimes.

That’s it for our free bets for UFC Fight Night 57: Swanson vs Edgar. We have 2 more bets for our paid followers which are available on our Sellfy page. In addition, remember to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for all our latest updates!
