UFC Fight Night 59: McGregor vs Siver Betting Recap

Our weekend started strong with a single parlay bet across Bellator 132 and WSOF 17 cashing with relative ease. Going into the UFC card with a cashed betting tip was a nice feeling. We ended up increasing our weekend’s profit with UFC Fight Night 59: McGregor vs Siver, going 3-2 for a profit of 3.58 units. At this point it looks like we will continue to bring you all our betting tips for free until the end of January. Should we get some more sign ups at our partner site, Draft Kings, we would look at extending the free betting tips to February or March. Ideally, we will give out the free picks all year assuming we can keep our sign up numbers high!

Our final bet of the night was a 2 unit bet on Donald Cerrone to defeat Benson Henderson in the co-main event in the lightweight division. Obviously the biggest concern for Cerrone was the fact that he only had 2 weeks between fights. We got odds of 2.22 (+122), but they were as high as 2.30 (+130) by fight time. Round 1 was very even. Cerrone pushed forward slightly more, but neither fighter really landed many memorable strikes. Round 2 was similar, but we thought it was the clearest round in favour of Cerrone. Round 3 was very similar to round 1 except both fighters pretty much pushed forward evenly. All 3 judges scored it 29-28 for Donald Cerrone and we profit 2.44 units.

Our fourth bet of the night was a 3 unit play on Gleison Tibau to defeat Normin Parke. We got odds of 1.80 (-125) and the line was relatively stable throughout the week, only paying slightly less on fight day. All three rounds were almost entirely fought on the feet and we thought Tibau had both the power and volume edge on his strikes throughout. He also controlled the grappling for the most part. We had it 30-27 Tibau, with 29-28 being a possibility as well. 2 judges scored it 29-28 Tibau and we win our bet profiting 2.40 units!

Our third bet of the night was another underdog. We had a 2 unit bet on Cathal Pendred to defeat Sean Spencer. We got odds of 2.37 (+137) and it had climbed to 2.55 (+155) by fight time. The first round looked bad at Spencer rocked Pendred several times and basically dominated most of the round. Round 2 was slightly better although Spencer was still winning on the feet. The lone bright spot for Pendred came with 2 takedowns and a tight submission attempt towards the end of the round. Round 3 was pretty close as Pendred seemed to land more strikes, but Spencer landed the more damaging attacks. Somehow 2 judges scord the fight 30-27 Pendred with the third scoring it 29-28 and we profit 2.74 units. This was honestly one of the worst decisions we had seen in a while, but hey, you lose some bad decisions, you win some bad decisions and we’ll take it.

Our first two bets of the night were on the second bout of the evening which pitted light heavyweights Matt Van Buren and Sean O’Connell. We had the under 1.5 rounds in the fight. That was a 2 unit bet at 2.00 (+100). In addition, we had Van Buren to come away victorious. That bet was 2 units at 2.85 (+185). Both lines were relatively stable on fight day, only moving a few cents. Round 1 saw Van Buren being the far more active striker, landing a ton of knees and avoiding damage. Round 2 started off with more of the same, but as the fighters began to tire, O’Connell started to land some damaging strikes. Round 3 was pretty similar to round 2 except O’Connell appeared to be landing more strikes on Van Buren. Eventually he finished Van Buren and made both our bets losers. We lost both our 2 unit bets.

Overall, it was a successful night of bets! Remember to follow us on Twitter and Facebook. Also remember to sign up and deposit at our partner’s site, Draft Kings to ensure we can continue to bring you the best free MMA betting tips on the net.
