The main event at this event will be for the next shot at Jon Jones’s light heavyweight title. It features hometown boy, Alexander Gustafsson taking on Anthony Johnson. Johnson is in his second run in the UFC after the first ended due to his inability to make weight at middleweight and welterweight. From 2012-2014, Johnson went 6-0 across Titan FC and WSOF and since returning to the UFC, he has been 2-0 knocking off a top guy in Phil Davis in the process. At 30 years old, Johnson should be in the prime of his career. His opponent, former title contender, Alexander Gustafsson. Gustafsson is 16-2 overall and 8-2 in the UFC. He was close to reaching the pinnacle of the UFC light heavyweight division at UFC 165 where he took Jon Jones to a very close decision, losing in the process. We feel like the betting public is underrating Anthony Johnson in this spot. Johnson has shown incredible power throughout his entire career, but especially since moving to light heavyweight where 5 of his 6 wins have come by TKO. As a 3.65 (+265) underdog and with his ability to land a powerful strike that could change the complexion of the fight at any point, we think there’s big value in Johnson. We placed a 2 unit bet on Johnson at 3.65 (+265) at 5Dimes.

In the main event of the prelims, Nico Musoke and Albert Tumenov will do battle in the welterweight division. The 28 year old Musoke hails from Stockholm, Sweden and will have the hometown advantage tomorrow. Overall, he is 13-3 and is an impressive 3-1 under the UFC banner. He has fought mostly mediocore competition in the UFC so far, but we see Tumenov as being a relatively mediocore UFC welterweight as well. Tumenov is 14-2 overall and 2-1 in the UFC. Both guys are relatively young and likely still improving with Musoke at 28 years of age and Tumenov at 23. This fight is pretty close, but our model gives the edge to Musoke. Add to that the fact that he is fighting at home and is currently an underdog and we think that he’s worth placing a bet on. We placed a 2 unit bet on Nico Musoke at 2.25 (+125) at 5Dimes.

Our final underdog bet of the night will be on Neil Seery to defeat Chris Beal in the opening fight of the night. Seery is 14-10 overall and 1-1 in the UFC. Beal is a former TUF 18 contender and holds a 10-0 record overall. He has fought twice in the UFC winning both. He is probably best remembered for the awesome flying knee KO at UFC 172 against Patrick Williams. Beal is the younger of the two at 29 while Seery is 35. Our model favours Seery and as a decent sized underdog, placing a bet makes a lot of sense. We placed a 2 unit bet on Neil Seery at 2.82 (+182) at BetOnline.
