The main event of UFC Glasgow is a middleweight fight between Michael Bisping vs Thales Leites. The Brit, Bisping will be the hero as he walks to the Octagon; he is 36 years old with an overall record of 26-7. He has been fighting in the UFC record of 16-7 and has been fighting for the promotion since 2006. He has been close to a title shot several times, but has never been able to win the big fight that would propel him to the pinnacle. As of late, he has looked a step slower than in the past, only going 4-4 in his last 8 and being unable to put together back to back wins. Thales Leites will be the villain from Brazil. He is 33 years old and 25-4 overall. In his first UFC run from 2006-2008, Leites made it all the way to a middleweight title shot, but was cut from the promotion with a 5-3 record. In his second UFC run, he is 5-0 so far and has shown dramatically improved striking, TKOing Trevor Smith and Francis Carmont. Our model favours Leites so much so that he is worthy of a 4 unit play. On the feet, Bisping almost surely has the edge although Leites has shown that he will still have a puncher’s chance. It’s on the ground where Leites does his best work and if he can follow the model of Tim Kennedy who was able to suffocate Bisping to a decision, he should be able to handily win a decision. We placed a 4 unit bet on Thales Leites to defeat Michael Bisping at 1.98 (-102) at Pinnacle.
