It was a solid night of betting as The Fight Predictor went 2-2 for +3.72 units. The reason for the decent profit despite going 2-2 is the fact that our bigger plays which were 3 and 4 units cashed while our smaller 2 unit plays both failed to cash. The event caps off another decent month as we’ve now been profitable in 5 of 7 months of 2015. You can see our entire betting history in our track record or all bets since the start of 2015 3rd party tracked at CapperTek. Now that UFC on Fox 16: Dillashaw vs Barao II is all wrapped up, we’ll focus on bringing you the best possible bets for UFC 190: Rousey vs Correira which now has full odds available.
Our final bet of the night was a 3 unit play on Edson Barboza to defeat Paul Felder. We gave it out as our free betting tip at 1.84 (-119) and it dropped quite a bit leading up to the fight closing around 1.69 (-145). Round 1 was pretty close, but we felt Barboza landed slightly more and had the more damaging strikes in a round fought on the feet. Round 2 was razor thin as both guys landed some impressive spinning techniques and a wide variety of strikes. We had it 19-19 heading to the third round. We had round 3 going to Barboza in the most clear of the rounds as he landed far more strikes on Felder who started to get wild with his strikes towards the end of the round, but was unable to land anything significant. All 3 judges saw it the same way and we profit 2.52 units.
Our first 4 unit bet of the night was on Bryan Caraway to defeat Eddie Wineland. We got odds of 2.30 (+130) and it was pretty similar when the fight started at 2.25 (+125). Round 1 likely went to Wineland as he landed slightly more strikes and seemed to be the aggressor, but it was razor thin and could have gone either way on the score cards. Round 2 saw the momentum swing in Caraway’s favour as Wineland continued to throw a lot, but didn’t land nearly as many strikes as Caraway. Both men left the round worse for wear with relatively minor cuts. Round 3 was again very close, but we gave a slight edge to Caraway who appeared to land more strikes. We had it 29-28 Caraway going to the judges. All 3 judges scored it in favour of Caraway and we profit 5.20 units.
Our second 2 unit bet was on the second fight of the night as we had Jessamyn Duke to defeat Elizabeth Phillips at 2.50 (+150). This line actually moved the opposite way as Duke had dropped to 2.35 (+135) or so by fight time. Besides the last 10 seconds of the round or so when Duke was able to take top position, she seemed content to sit on her back with Phillips on top. It was obviously 10-9 Phillips after 1. Round 2 was more of the same as Duke went for a guillotine which failed and gave Phillips top position. Phillips landed a bunch of ground and pound and definitely won the round. We needed Duke to finish in the last round to win this bet. Duke turned it around in round 3 and pounded on a tired Phillips for most of the round. Unfortunately, it was too little to late and all 3 judges scored it 29-28 for Phillips. We lose our 2 unit bet.
Our first bet of the night was 2 units on Dominique Steele to defeat Zak Cummings at 3.86 (+286). When the line closed you could get as high as 4.25 (+325) at some books. It didn’t take very long for this money to be dead as Cummings found a home for a left hand that started a flurry that left Steele completely unable to defend himself. Cummings actually showed improved striking in this fight as it was his first TKO win since 2011 and first in the Octagon. We lose our 2 unit bet.
Overall, it was a decent night of betting and we’ll look to keep the momentum going at UFC 190: Rousey vs Correira which kicks off 3 event month of August. Get all our bets at CapperTek and remember to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for all our latest updates.
