We’re less than a week away from one of the busiest UFC weekends of all time. To kick it off we have UFC Fight Night 80: VanZant vs Namajunas which goes down from The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan in Vegas, then on the following night at the same venue we have the TUF 22 finale featuring Frankie Edgar and Chad Mendes in the main event and then we have the big one on Saturday, December 12 as Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor collide in one of the biggest fights of the year at UFC 194. We already released our free betting tip for UFC 194, so we’re here to bring you our free betting tip for UFC Fight Night 80. In total, we expect to have at least 10-15 bets across the 3 events on the weekend, with 3 of them being completely free on our site! In addition to the free bets posted on our site, we are planning to send a free bet to our email subscribers. Not a subscriber? Sign up here.
In terms of our recent results, November was a crazy month! We had 3 straight cards with close to 20 units on the line and one of those was a small loss, one was a big loss and one was a huge win. The net result was a profit of 3.02 units on the month for an ROI of 4.31%. We typically hope for a minimum ROI of 10%, but after such an up and down month, we were happy to walk away with a profit! 2015 has been an excellent year for us, bringing in 56.64 units of profit for an ROI of over 12%. Even though 2014 had a pretty decent profit of 34.36 units, the more important thing we gained was an understanding of where our model really excelled for use in betting. We have exploited that in 2015 and dramatically increased our ROI and total unit returns. Enough bragging about us, let’s get to the UFC Fight Night 80: VanZant vs Namajunas free betting tip! Opening the main card will be a middleweight fight between Elias Theodorou and Thiago Santos. Theodorou is the 27 year old former winner of TUF Nations and has an impressive undefeated record of 11-0 which includes 3 straight Octagon wins. His opponent, Thiago Santos is 31 years old and 11-3 overall. He has not faired quite as well in the Octagon, going 3-2 in his 5 fights so far. Santos was a cast member of TUF: Brazil 2, but lost to eventual winner Leonardo Santos in the quarter finals. When the line for this fight opened, some money came in on Theodorou, but it seems to have come back the other way as the current line sits at Theodorou 1.41 (-241) and Santos 3.20 (+220). Our model sees Theodorou as having very good value in this spot which is why we made him the first leg of our two team free bet parlay.
The second leg of our two team parlay is Aljamin Sterling. The bantamweight fight between Sterling and Johnny Eduardo goes down in the middle of the preliminary card. It’s always tough to bet a hyped up prospect like Sterling because they tend to get a lot of money on them and the lines are sometimes inflated. In this case, the line is pretty steep, but we don’t think it has gone past the point of value. Sterling is a 26 year old with 11 career fights, all of which have been wins and 7 of which have been wins inside the distance. He has been successful in all 3 of his UFC fights so far as well, beating Cody Gibson, Hugo Vianna and Takeya Mizugaki. Johnny Eduardo is 35 years old and 27-9 overall. He has been fighting professionally for almost 20 years; his pro debut came in November, 1996. Interestingly, he had a 3-7 stretch in his career from 1998-2007 so besides that stretch, he has only lost twice. In the UFC, he is 2-1, but has only fought 3 times since his debut in 2011 and hasn’t fought since May, 2014. Obviously, our model favours Sterling here and it’s not hard to make the case for betting on him. Firstly, Eduardo is 35 years old and we’ve proven in our analysis that fighter’s tend to slow down and not be as successful in the lighter weight classes in their early 30s. Secondly, Eduardo is not only old, but inactive. We’ve seen in our analysis as well that inactivity leads to poor performances and having more than a year off in your mid-30s is a very strong precursor to having a bad performance. So mark Aljamin Sterling down as the second leg of our two team parlay which will be for 2 units at the odds of 1.69 (-144) at Pinnacle.
