UFC on Fox 17: Dos Anjos vs Cerrone II went down last night and it was another big profit for The Fight Predictor. Overall, we went 3-0-1 on our bets for a total profit of 6.70 units. The bet that was voided was our 4 unit bet on Cole Miller to defeat Jim Alers and that bet looked to be good until Alers poked Miller in the eye and forced the fight to be ruled a no contest. Regardless, we’ll take the big win which moves us over 60 units of profit on the year! Our next tips will be for UFC 195: Lawler vs Condit which goes down on January 2, 2016. To all our followers, happy holidays to you and your families!
Our first bet of the night was a 2 unit play in a heavyweight fight between Francis Ngannou and Luiz Henrique. We got odds of 1.87 (-115), which was slightly better than where the odds closed. The fight overall was pretty sloppy with Henrique grappling early and getting Ngannou down on a leg kick. Round 1 was mostly spent with Henrique on top, but not really doing too much. In round 2 the tables turned as Henrique struggled to land takedowns. Eventually he backed away, seemingly completely gassed and Ngannou landed some devastating combinations, putting Henrique away with and upper cut. We won our bet and profited 1.74 units.
Our second bet of the night was on the featherweight opener of the televised prelims as we had 4 units on Cole Miller to defeat Jim Alers at 2.10 (+110). A bit of money came in on Miller and he closed around even money. Round 1 was pretty even with both guys landing some shots, but we felt Miller’s utilization of reach and avoidance of Alers big strikes were enough to take the round. The second round started pretty much the same way as the first, but Alers inadvertently poked Miller in the eye. Miller was unable to open his eye at all even 5 minutes after the poke so fight was ruled a no contest and our 4 unit bet is returned.
Next up was a 2 unit bet on a lightweight fight between Nik Lentz and Danny Castillo. This was our free betting tip we gave out earlier in the week when Lentz was 1.95 (-105). By fight time, Lentz had become the favourite, closing around 1.77 (-130). Round 1 was very fast paced, Lentz locked up a couple close guillotines, but couldn’t get the job done. Castillo spent some time in top control and the action on the feet was pretty close. Round 2 saw an extremely tired Castillo and a pretty tired Lentz. We gave the advantage to Lentz for pushing forward and landing more quality strikes. Round 3 saw Lentz again pushing forward on a tired Danny Castillo. Once again we scored it for Lentz. Two of 3 judges agreed that Lentz did enough to win and gave him a split decision win. With that we profit 1.90 units.
Our final bet of the night was on Charles Oliveira to defeat Myles Jury. It would have been a 4 unit bet, but Oliveira missing weight scared us a little so we stuck with a 2 unit play at 2.55 (+155). The line was basically the same heading into the fight. Oliveira got the fight to the ground about a minute into the first. He quickly got Jury’s back and eventually when Jury tried to stand up, Oliveira locked up a guillotine choke. Jury was forced to tap. Our bet on Oliveira brought us a 3.10 unit profit and gave us an undefeated night at 3-0-1.
