UFC Fight Night 92: Rodriguez vs Caceres goes down this Saturday night from Salt Lake City, Utah and features a couple match-ups with top 15 featherweights and a top 15 middleweight. To be honest, the overall card is pretty weak; even the top 15 guys aren’t likely to challenge for a title without at least 2 big wins. Regardless, from a betting perspective there are a couple bets we like already with about half the lines released for the event. One is a 4 unit play we released earlier today to Cappertek. The other we’ll be bringing you for free in this post. In terms of our recent betting results, we ended up with a 3 unit profit in July after a weak start was followed up by 3 straight profits and the month finished with a slight loss at UFC 201. Overall, we’re still up 10 or so units on the year and we’ll be looking to make a whole lot more in the second half!
One line we were surprised by at UFC Fight Night 92 is the line on Thales Leites. Leites fights Chris Camozzi in a middleweight bout that will go down in the middle of the main card. Leites is a 34 year old former middleweight title contender. Overall, he is 25-6 and 10-5 in the UFC. He went 5-3 in his initial UFC run from 2006-2009 which culminated in a title shot. In his current run which began in 2013, he is 5-2, but the two losses came back to back in his most recent two fights against Michael Bisping and Gegard Mousasi. Chris Camozzi is 29 years old and 24-10 overall. He is also in his third UFC run, going 2-1 in the first, 4-5 in the second and 3-1 in the current one. Thales Leites was once known exclusively as a grappler. His title shot against Anderson Silva is memorable mostly because of how terrible it was. Clearly outmatched in the striking against Anderson Silva, Leites continually flopped to his back trying to goad Silva into his guard which Silva was unwilling to do. Recently, though he has shown dramatic improvements in his striking, TKOing Francis Carmont and Trevor Smith. In terms of the match-up with Camozzi, Leites will have a huge grappling advantage. In addition to the grappling advantage, Leites can likely hold his own on the feet with his improved striking game. Based on this, we expected Leites to be a huge favourite in this fight so we are licking our chops at the current line of 1.54 (-185). We placed a 2 unit bet on Thales Leites at 1.54 (-185) at Bookmaker.eu.
