UFC 202: Diaz vs McGregor II Free Betting Tip

ufc-202-1

We’re 2 weeks away from the biggest fight card of the summer! Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz will battle it out for the second time after their epic fight in March that Diaz took via second round submission. Generally, we look for a favourite that we’re fairly confident in to bet for our free tip, but in this case we feel pretty strongly about which side is correct in the main event so we’ll be making that our free bet. In terms of our recent results, we ended up with a winning month of July where we had a weak start, but a very strong finish to net out a profit of just over 3 units on the month. August started with a 2-2 event at Fight Night 92 so we’ll be looking to bring home a huge profit at UFC 202 to bring us back to the green. By the way if you want to get all our bets for UFC 202 or any other event you can get them for just $9.95 by signing up at Cappertek.

Nate Diaz is the former TUF 5 winner and has been fighting in the UFC since June, 2007. The 31 year old is 19-10 overall and 14-8 in the Octagon. He has consistently been in the top 10 lightweights in the UFC with notable wins over top lightweights Donald Cerrone, Michael Johnson and Gray Maynard. Obviously his most notable career win was the submission win over McGregor at UFC 196. Conor McGregor is 28 years old, but far less experienced in the UFC. Overall, he is 19-3 and 7-1 in the UFC. His notable wins list is still very impressive with wins over Jose Aldo, Chad Mendes and Max Holloway. The difference is all those wins were at 145 lbs while Diaz’s wins were at 155 lbs. The fight in 2 weeks will be at 170 lbs. In terms of the betting odds, the line is fairly close with McGregor at 1.83 (-120) favourite and Diaz a 2.17 (+117) dog. In their first fight, Diaz took all the strikes McGregor had to offer and remained standing. McGregor gassed fairly quickly and once that happened, Diaz used his range and boxing technique to tee off on McGregor eventually taking McGregor down and locking up the sub. It’s notable that Diaz won the fight with only a 2 week training camp. Our model favours Diaz in the rematch and it’s hard to see why the fight would play out any worse for him. In fact, we expect him to beat McGregor in an even more decisive fashion given he’ll have a full training camp to prepare. McGregor gives up too much in reach and size to be able to overcome those disadvantages even with a longer time to prep. Nate Diaz is our free bet. We put 2 units on it at 2.17 (+117) at Pinnacle.
